The power of Executive Career Development Coaching
What is the role of a coach?
A certified coach is a qualified professional who works with individuals to help them unleash and maximise their potential. The coach acts as a sounding board and supports clients to clarify goals, gain self-awareness and achieve developmental objectives.
The fundamental principle of coaching is the recognition that the client has all the answers and it is the coach’s role to help the client identify these by asking thought-provoking, powerful questions. The client takes ownership which leads to sustainable transformational change.
What is the coaching process?
My coaching process is straightforward. It begins with a ‘chemistry’ meeting, a free Discovery Call via Zoom or another video online conferencing tool. It gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have regarding coaching and discuss any practicalities we need to be aware of, such as time frames.
Once you have completed and submitted the Contact Form, you will receive a link to my calendar so you can schedule the Discovery Call at a time that suits you.
There is generally a lot of confusion concerning the differences between coaching, mentoring, consulting and counselling so it is important to discuss this (read an explanation in the Frequently Asked Questions). It is also essential to explore whether coaching is the most appropriate option for you. In addition, I will explain the structure of each coaching session and the coaching agreement in detail. We will also discuss which coaching package is most suited to your specific needs.
There is no pressure to sign up for coaching at the end of your Discovery Call. You may need more time to consider whether you want to move forward with coaching. While selecting a coach is a subjective matter, it may be useful to consider their qualifications and experience, along with the rapport you feel after your chemistry session. Choosing the right coach is paramount as the coaching relationship is based on mutual trust.
The STRETCH Coaching Model
As an ICF certified life, career and retirement coach, I have developed the STRETCH Coaching Model to help expand your thinking and facilitate a growth mindset. This helpful acronym incorporates seven stages:
Applying this model throughout the coaching journey enables you to unlock and reach your full potential. Figuratively speaking, STRETCH can be seen as the expansion of the mind into previously unknown territory, highlighting the fact that there are no limits to growth.
The key components of my coaching model are built on:
- A non-judgemental approach
- Creating a safe space
- Empathy
